What to do? | Forum -> Household Management -> Cleaning & Laundry | | imabima | Tue, Jul 26 2011, 9:33 am My son's sneakers are very stinky because of urine. They are dry and still smelly. What should I do with them? Soak them in water? With soap? Thanks for your help! | | | Back to top | 0 0 | zaq | Tue, Jul 26 2011, 9:56 am If you're afraid to machine-wash, rinse with plenty of cold water, then soak in water to which you've added a goodly quantity of baking soda. Rinse again, lather with mild soap for good measure, rinse and dry. If you're afraid to do even that, sprinkle dry baking soda inside and all over the shoes, work into the fabric, let sit for a few days, brush off. Or spray with Lysol spray or Febreze. or plain vinegar, which will neutralize the ammonia in the urine, but realize that the urine will still be in the fabric. It won't kill anybody, but there's the "yuck factor" to consider. OTOH, shoes come into contact with dog poop, bugs, rotten banana peels and other pleasant stuff, so the "yuck factor" is already there. | | | Back to top | 0 0 | ElTam | Tue, Jul 26 2011, 11:40 am If they are not fabric that can be washed, I shake a LOT of baking soda on the inside and spray the outside with Lysol. And I let my kids who are pottytraining go barefoot a lot. | | | Back to top | 0 0 | Page 1 of 1 | | View latest: 24h 48h 72h | | Forum -> Household Management -> Cleaning & Laundry | Related Topics | Replies | Last Post | | Dribbling urine - 7 year old | 11 | Sat, Oct 30 2021, 4:05 pm | | Where to get fit for running sneakers Lakewood, Toms River & Jackson related Inquiries | 3 | Wed, Oct 06 2021, 2:41 pm | | Teen Boy Sneakers - help please | 4 | Sun, Aug 29 2021, 2:01 pm | | Get rid of smell from sneakers | 5 | Sun, Aug 29 2021, 12:34 am | | What shoes/sneakers Flatbush BY HS girls wearing to school? | 5 | Sun, Aug 22 2021, 12:02 pm | | Imamother is a community of frum Jewish women, where you can come to relax, socialize, debate, receive support, ask questions and much more. © 2021 Imamother.com - All rights reserved | |
